| A Day in the Life of a Young Jesuit |
The life of a Jesuit begins as he enters the Novitiate which, for the New Orleans Province, is at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. The applicants traditionally arrive on August 14th entering by way of this avenue of pines and oaks. |
The college first opened its doors in January of 1838, founded by Jesuits of the Province of Paris at the invitation of the Bishop of New Orleans. At the time it was the only Catholic school for boys in Louisiana. |
