The Christian Life Community Movement (CLC) is an Ignatian-based international lay movement founded over 450 years ago. CLC is located in over 60 countries. As lived by CLC members, Ignatian Spirituality is not only a retreat experience of the Spiritual Exercises, but a way of life lived both on a personal and community level.
Spirituality, community, and mission are the essential
elements for each CLC member. The spirituality is Ignatian; the community
reinforces the movement of integrating faith and daily living; and the
mission is not just being involved in an activity, but is a whole quality
of being present to the mission of Christ in the world today.
Nationally, CLC is organized according to the provinces of the Society of Jesus with a national office in St. Louis, Missouri. The international office is in Rome. The international assembly of the movement (three delegates from each affiliated country) meets every five years to set direction for CLC worldwide. The next assembly will be held in 2005 in Kenya.
An article on CLC was written in "Companions" inside the Spring 1994 issue of COMPANY magazine. For a copy of the article or for further information you can contact: Marie A. Schimelfening at (313) 861-7500. You can also visit the National CLC website at: www.clc-usa.org
