The Jesuit Advocacy Network
(JAN) advocates for legislative and public policies that prioritize
the needs of the poor and advance the common good of all. As advocates,
members of the JAN bring a voice rooted in faith to the shaping of
legislation and public policy in Washington, D.C., and in state and
local areas.
Currently, more than 5,000 Jesuit, religious and
lay members participate in this network. They include former and current
members of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and persons associated with
the 99 parishes, seven Nativity schools, 45 high schools and 28 colleges
and universities that the Society of Jesus runs. These works and ministries
associated with the vision of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and the Society
of Jesus contain many people with tremendous practical and theoretical
expertise.
We firmly believe that this network, as it is developed
and mobilized, possesses great potential to exert a positive, faith-based
influence on the shaping of a more just public policy.
Joining JAN means:
- Receiving alerts about pending legislation and occasional printed
material about social issues
- Being willing to write, call, visit or use your local media to
influence issues
It does not mean:
- Getting solicited for funds or contributions
- Giving your name to other groups or commercial mail lists
The Jesuit Advocacy Network respects the desire for preserving privacy
and will not sell or loan information about its members to any outside
group.
Joining JAN will enable us to contact you and keep you informed so
you can be an active advocate.
