José Fetzer, SJ
Father José E. Fetzer, S.J. is a native of Lima, Peru, a graduate of St. Louis University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, Spanish literature and an M.A. in Spanish literature. Fr. Fetzer entered the Society of Jesus in 1995 and was ordained a transitional deacon in June, 2006 and was assigned to Montserrat Retreat House in December, 2006 where he will continue to work as a priest.
During his formation, he taught Spanish at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas and worked in prison and parish ministry in Boston while completing his theological studies at Weston School of Theology. He has been giving the Spiritual Exercises throughout his formation but fell in love with retreat ministry after doing an internship at Our Lady of Montserrat in 2004. He grew up speaking the German language and is fluent in Spanish and French.

Mark Mossa, SJ
Father Mark Mossa, S.J. was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in English from Assumption College and University of South Carolina respectively. While at Assumption College, Mark served as Editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, Le Provocateur, and was active in the college’s Students for Life organization, which sought to promote human dignity and educate the campus on all life issues from abortion to war. Both were the subject of editorials, especially as this was during the time of the first Gulf War.
Mark entered the Society of Jesus in August of 1997. During his Jesuit formation, he served as Director of Campus Ministry and Community Service at Jesuit High School in Tampa where he also coached the speech and debate team. From 2003-2005, Mark was assigned to Loyola University in New Orleans where he taught full-time as a professor of philosophy, while also serving part-time as a member of Loyola’s campus ministry team.
These two men were ordained on Saturday, June 14, 2008, by
the Most Reverend Joseph A. Fiorenza, Archbishop Emeritus of Galveston-Houston.
The Mass of Ordination was celebrated in Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church in New Orleans.
